They Get Letters

Fiction, not fact:

Nuclear possibility

In the Jan. 14 editorial cartoon strip "This Modern World," Tom Tomorrow seems to mock the threat of a terrorist detonating a nuclear bomb in a major city by smugly suggesting that "we'll just have to hope Jack Bauer can defuse it before the next commercial."

If Mr. Tomorrow thinks suitcase bombs are the things of Hollywood writers' imaginations, I'd like to note that before Sept. 11, 2001, the idea of two hijacked airliners bringing down the World Trade Center seemed equally implausible.
