ReddHedd takes the Democrats out back for a whipping over their utterly spineless performance at the Alito confimation hearings:
Look, I know we are a representative democracy and each Senator has to stand up for the specific point of view of his or her constituents as much as for some overarching Democratic party themes, but...um...that assumption is based on the theory that we actually have some fucking party themes.

Damn straight.
The Democrats had better wake-up and fast. The GOP is going to keep pushing and pushing and pushing and if the Dems don't stand up and fight back then they might as well pack it in as a political party. At the very least they will provoke a dozen Ralph Naders.
A good place to start would be to filibuster Alito's confirmation vote. Sure, this would lead MC KatKillah Frist to pull the nuclear trigger but if not now, if not with an issue this important, then when?
But at least one leading jellyfish doesn't want to cause any upset:
"I do not see a likelihood of a filibuster," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif. "This might be a man I disagree with, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't be on the court."
She said she will not vote to confirm the appeals court judge, based on his conservative record. But she acknowledged that nothing emerged during last week's hearings to justify any organized action by Democrats to stall the nomination.
With Democrats like this who needs Republicans?
