Sick of Bush bashing
As a lifelong Democrat, I am tired of reading all the anti-Bush letters the Post-Gazette prints. A case in point is Richard J. Lesnak's April 11 letter, "Blood on His Hands." He states, "I thought the most embarrassing moment of his presidency was the seven minutes of inaction on 9/11 when he was told the United States was under attack."
Any astute observer -- that leaves out most Democrats -- knows what went on in those seven minutes.
Mr. Bush, our president, was demonstrating savoir-faire and, more to the point, sang-froid -- calmness amid trying circumstances, coolness, composure, self-possession, imperturbability. He did not panic.
Mr. Lesnak's last paragraph states, "George W. Bush must accept the fact that he has the blood of more than 2,300 young American soldiers on his hands." But he overlooks the fact that ex-president Bill Clinton has the blood of almost 3,000 9/11 victims on his hands.

A ducky dinner
Regarding Tony Norman's Dec. 12 column ("Things Are Just Ducky, Now That Cheney's Left Town"): As a lifelong Democrat, it never ceases to amaze me to what lengths some of us will go "to bash the Bush administration" (Mr. Norman's words) and our current president, the Hon. George W. Bush.
Freddie Pheasant and Jean-Luc Mallard were meant to be killed and eaten.
As a farm boy, I can remember going out to the south 40 and shooting seven pheasants for our table. We raised mallards for sale and for our Sunday dinner, a la francaise.
Norman is a sly polisson (or rascal) to point out what good shots we Americans are and that we are now in good hands against our terrorist enemies.
Norman never has mentioned President Clinton's multimillion-dollar haircut on Air Force One.
